In considering traditional squares in Japan, “Ooji”(the great main street) born in the purpose as a evacuation place in case of fire in the Edo period had a role of the square. In the modern city, these main street has been occupied by the car, and the place where people gather was lost. Among them, I propose using the scrambled intersection of Shibuya as a square when it becomes for pedestrians on weekends. By incorporating various functions on roads and sidewalks and pulling them out from the ground according to the seasons and events, new plazas are born each time in a limited time.
